mave 101: our own video course

To get a better understanding of what you can do with mave, we’re introducing a 101 course as an introduction to our component library. And as a video company, we couldn’t resist creating eight videos that total around twenty minutes. In those twenty minutes, we’ll cover everything you need to build your own video course site.

Honestly, we were really inspired by one of our customers who used mave to build a video course site: Sketch 101. We thought, why not create a course that covers everything you need to know to build a video course site like this as well? So, we did. Obviously, we asked them for permission, as we used the same structure and look and feel. They’re a great source of inspiration and they were happy to help us out.

What’s in the course?

Most people understand video, and we’ve covered specifics like responsive video and codecs before. But as we’ve learned along the way, our documentation and descriptions can be overwhelming. So instead, we forced ourselves to use video, as that’s our business, to show what you can do with mave and how you can use it to build a video course site. We’ve made it personal because I’m the one guiding you through all of our components.

The components are at the heart of mave, and they are what make us different from other video services out there. The trick is that you can combine these components to quickly build a video course site and easily manage the videos using our platform. In the example, we’ll be building a landing page and an overview of the videos of a pizza course. Here’s the first lesson:

And if you’re ready, you can go ahead and start the next lesson right here:

What’s next?

We would love to hear what you think and whether you want more of these courses. We’re considering creating a 102 course, where we’ll dive deeper into other components like <mave-upload> and show you how you can create your own video platform by allowing your users to upload videos.
